Spring Break in Sanibel/Captiva

We had a great week at the beach in Sanibel/Captiva, Florida in late March. Sanibel is known for it's amazing shells and beautiful white beaches. We took several boat trips, enjoyed the pool and beach, and did lots and lots of shell collecting. Everyone had a wonderful time!
We literally had the beach to ourselves, which surprised everyone. We rented a beach house with friends, which made life very easy and simple, literally walking out our back door to this beach.

So odd, over Spring Break, you'd think we'd be sharing the beach with thousands, but no.

Wow, that is my kind of beach (empty and large)! and over Spring Break? Did you ever figure out why? Were you accosted by marauding sand flies? Were there armies of man-o-war (man-o-wars? men-o-war?) in the water? In any case, don't tell any more people where it is!
