Valentine's Day has become Halloween

How and when did this happen? It used to be that on Valentine's Day, the children would pass out simple home-made valentine cards. Not anymore! The amount of candy that comes home requires that the child have a HUGE sack for all the candy that they are given. And then begins the sorting, trading, etc, JUST LIKE ON HALLOWEEN! At least Valentine's Day has a good message. Still have not figured out what the Halloween message is, other than "got candy, if so, hand it over!"
